James, was the 5th child of 15-children born to James Madison and Hollie Virginia "Jane" (Swearingen), Bean Sr. James Sr. moved the family from Jackson County, TN to Jackson County, AL James Jr. was the oldest boy and one of seven brothers who fought in the Civil War as a Confederate Soldier of Jackson County, AL. He was 1st married to Rebecca Ann Arnold, and they had the following children. Mary Jane, John Matthews, Eliza Jane, Sarah A., Martha Elizabeth, and James Clinton Bean. His 2nd marriage was to Lucy Jane (Elliott) and they had the following children. William Henry, Huldah Jane, Anderson "K", Robert Lee Ora, Marlin Hansford, Samuel Weaver, Charles Branstford, Jefferson Gentry, and Nora Bean. James lost an arm during the war, and he worked as a farmer and school teacher. He was the brother of Nancy, Sarah Margaret, Mary Elizabeth, Priscilla, Eli Brantsford, Crawford Carlton, Anderson Kelly, Allen Young, John Bender, Henry Harrison, Eliza Jane, and Margaret Angeline Bean. There was 2- Sibling infants that died. The Beans lived most of their lives around the Big Coon Creek near Stevenson, Jackson County, AL and Franklin, County, TN.
