Sarah married William James Pippin in Jackson County, Tennessee, in the late 1840s, father of her 5 daughters. William is the son of Redmon Pippin and Sarah Staffard Pippin.

They were living in Jackson County, TN in the 1850 census, with one child, Sarah and appear to be living on the farm of Jordan W Harris or Silas Gentry (house number 301 in district 12).

It is believed that William Pippin passed away around 1855 in Tennessee, which may have caused Sarah to move to the Devers Cove area to be near her parents as a widow.
Daughter Margaret born around1854 is listed as born in Tennessee and Daughter Elizabeth born around 1856 is listed as born in Alabama.

It is believed this marriage to Jim Grider may help identify her death data as 1863, because a James Grider married Mary Jane Summers in Nov. 1863 and they relocated to Tarrant County, Texas after the war. Other family researchers show that John Wilson "Cap" Grider, born in Feb. of 1862 is the son of Nancy and Jim Grider.
