Edwin Aldinger

SHREWSBURY - Edwin Aldinger, 87, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing Center, Shrewsbury, following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Romaine (Thoman) Aldinger.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at Greenmount United Methodist Church, 4242 Greenmount Church Rd., Glen Rock, with his pastor the Rev. Richard Lowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock.
Mr. Aldinger was born on December 23, 1922, in York Township, a son of the late Malcolm S. and Blanche P. 'Grandma' (Gettys) Aldinger.
Edwin retired in 1985 with 25 yrs. of service with PCCYork (Precision Custom Components) in their machine shop. He had also worked for the former AB Farquhar Foundry Oliver Division as an Assembler for over 21 yrs. He was a member of Greenmount United Methodist Church, Glen Rock, where he served as treasurer and sang on the choir, and was a member IAM & AW Union, and was a charter member of AAA.
Edwin is survived by a son, Charles E. Aldinger and his wife, Margaret, of Groton, Conn.; two grandchildren, Greg, and Dan; four great-grandchildren, Edye, Cameron, Madi, and Harrison; a brother, Melvin G. Aldinger of Seven Valleys; and Ed's longtime companion, Joye Schuchart.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard J. Aldinger, and Lewis H. Aldinger and a sister, Betty Aldinger.
