14 Jan 2004: Blanche P. "Grandma" (Gettys) Aldinger, 100, of Autumn House at Powder Mill, who was formerly of York Twp., died Monday, January 12, 2004 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Malcolm S. Aldinger. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem. Burial will be in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. James M. Emerick. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Aldinger was born on April 15, 1903 in Washington Twp., a daughter of the late James Oscar and Amanda E. (Thompson) Gettys. She operated the former Aldinger Salads with her husband for over 80 years at Central Market. She was a member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church. She leaves three sons, Edwin J. Aldinger of York, Lewis H. Aldinger of Red Lion and Melvin G. Aldinger of Seven Valleys; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Aldinger, a son Leonard J. Aldinger and a granddaughter. [York Daily Record]
