The tombstone shown has erroneous information. This is actually Susan Jane Batey Anderson. She is found on census records as Susan, Susanah, or Jane. She had an older sister named Sarah Ann. Records also indicate she was born in 1849 or 1850.

Susan was the sixth child of William Robert Batey and Ellender Earp. Her father died when the family was on the road to their new home - Montgomery County, Arkansas. Ellender was very pregnant at the time with Susan's younger brother, who was named William Robert Batey. Ellender, who was now the mother of eight children, married Fielding Strawn and had three more children. Several of the children ended up in Texas.

Susan married George W. Anderson in 1866 and the two moved to Texas around 1869. They had seven children of their own.
