SERVICES HELD FOR W. G. DARSEY, 54
Funeral services were held in Grapeland at 11 AM, Saturday for W. G. (Bill) Darsey, Jr. 54, who died at 3;45 PM Thursday after a long illness.
Native of Grapeland, he had lived in Palestine the last three years. His illness brought to a close a career of 30 years as an independent oil operator in South and East Texas.
The service was held in First Methodist Church at Grapeland with the Rev. Alton Jones and the Rev. James Argue officiating. Burial was in Grapeland City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were DeWitt Richards, John Kennedy, Dawson Schultz, A. L. Roquemore Jr., C. G. Joyce, Jr. and Buck Walston.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Roberta Deerman Darsey; a son, W. G. Darsey III of Lafayette, La, a daughter, Mrs. Betty Woods of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, two brothers, Dr. Edward S. Darsey of Crockett and Joe T. Darsey of Austin; and three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Carlton of Houston, Mrs. Carolyn Dailey of Bolling, and Mrs. Frances Handy of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
