Mrs. Darsey was born August 31, 1911, in Palestine to Lum and Ossie (Felman) Deerman. She died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in a Lufkin hospital. Mrs. Darsey was a self-employed businesswoman in the oil industry. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palestine, and a member of the Dogwood Garden Club and Howard Museum. Mrs. Darsey was active in the Harvey Women's Building, Palestine. A longtime resident of Palestine, she had resided in Huntington for the past three years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Darsey was preceded in death by her husband, W. G. Darsey, Jr., and by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Darsey Woods and Alvin Woods of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Shirley Darsey of Houston; grandchildren, George Omega, Paige, Revill and Rig; nine great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jack Skinner of Lufkin and Edith Deerman of Palestine; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
