There is a discrepancy in the spelling of this name. His headstone and military records show his name as Carthier but several census and family records show him to be Carthen. He is the son of Benjamin Franklin and Addie Arminta Todd Williams. He had several siblings and to my knowledge they are:

He enlisted in the US Army on 29 Jun 1942. After the war, he moved back to Eagletown where he had grown up. He farmed and lived in that area the remainder of his rather short life.
He is laid to rest here in Mill Creek with his parents and many other family members. Carthen is my 1st cousin, 1X removed.
