George Herbert Jr. was the youngest child of George and Anna Streb Herbert. He was born in the family home at 1110 E. Eager Street in the Old Town neighborhood of East Baltimore in 1901.

George married Helen Murphy. He died in 1965 at the age of 64. He was buried at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

HERBERT - On December 25, 1965, GEORGE J., JR., of 1204 East Thirty-sixth street, beloved husband of Helen M. Herbert (nee Murphy), devoted brother of Mrs. Charles E. Button and Miss Marie Herbert. Services from the Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home, Inc., 5305 Harford road (at Echodale avenue) on Wednesday at 8 A.M. High Mass of Requiem will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 9 Am. Interment in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 7 to 9 P.M. on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M.

A requiem mass will be offered for George J. Herbert, Jr., an optician, at 9 A.M., Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 3615 Harford road. Mr. Herbert died Saturday at his home, 1204 East Thirty-sixth street. He had been an optician in Baltimore for 30 years and was a partner of the Bradley & Herbert Firm. Mr. Herbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a charter member of Cardinal Gibbons Council. His survivors include his wife, the former Helen Murphy, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles B. Button and Miss Marie Herbert.
