Anna was the daughter of George and Anna Steb Herbert of 1110 E. Eager Street in the Old Town neighborhood of East Baltimore. She married Earl Button in the 1930s. Anna and Earl had no children. Her sister Marie came to live with her after their parents had died. She died in 1969 and was buried at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Baltimore.
