Clara was born on September 26, 1911 and was baptized October 22, 1911 at Salem Evangelical Church in Alhambra. Her baptismal sponsors were Helene N. Steinhage and Sophie Suhre, her grandmothers. She was confirmed at Salem on Palm Sunday, April 13, 1924.

Clara and Melvin A. Greear were married on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1936 at her parents home east of Hamel.

ALHAMBRA - Clara Greear, 80, died at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1991, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City.
Born on Sept. 26, 1911, in Hamel Township, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph F. and Julia (Steinhage) Surhe.
She married Melvin Greear in April 12, 1936, in Edwardsville.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Robert Greear of Godfrey and Melvin Greear Jr. of Alhambra; two daughters, Laverne Bloemker of Hamel and Betty Ann Greear of Caseyville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sister, Verna Eaton of Worden and Helen Henke of Midway.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Edwin, Walter and Albert Suhre; and two sister, Mabel Kram and Viola Tomolin.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. Friday until service time at 2 p.m. at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra. The Rev. Herbert Stemler will officiate.
Burial is in Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
Memorials may be made to Eden United Church of Christ, where she was a member.
