He was born July 06, 1936, in Edwardsville, IL, the son of Melvin and Clara (nee Suhre) Greear.
On June 25, 1960, he married Doris Marie Sander who survives.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.
Melvin was a graduate of Staunton High School. He joined the US Army for 2 years and later worked at the Olin Corp. for 34 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed doing woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.
