Elizabeth married Jacob SHIREY on November 21, 1843, in Churchville, Augusta County, Virginia, and together they had two daughters; Mary Catherine Brown and Eveline F. M. Shirey.
When exactly Elizabeth and Jacob moved their fledgling family from Churchville in Augusta County, Virginia, to Salem in Roanoke County, Virginia, is unknown. All that is known so far is that Jacob, Elizabeth, and their two daughters were living in the household of Jacob's parents, John Shirey, Jr. and Mary Ann Paul and four of Jacob's siblings, Elizabeth, Jane, Evelyn, and Joseph, when the 1850 Census was enumerated on August 9, 1850.
Sadly, neither Elizabeth nor her 2nd daughter, Eveline, would live through the year. Eveline died on November 3, 1850 and was laid to rest in East Hill Cemetery. Elizabeth followed her to the grave barely a month later on December 8, 1850. The cause of death for mother and child is as yet unknown.
