Died 5:48 p.m. Friday, April 24, 1987, in Salem, Ore. He was 64, a native of Mississippi and resident of Batchelor. He was a farmer and beekeeper and retired Angola State Penitentiary employee. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Visiting at Niland's Funeral Home, New Roads, 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at Latanache Baptist Church, Batchelor, 1 p.m. Wednesday until religious services at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Elwood Crews. Burial in church cemetery.

Survived by wife, Flora Starnes Pollard; mother, Letha Carpenter Pollard, Booneville, Miss.; three daughters, Janie Farris, Parkin, Ark., Anna Ree Barr, Simmesport, and Deloma Howell, Kenai, Alaska; five sons, Phillip Pollard, Earle, Ark., Mark Pollard, Salem, Ore., Freddie Pollard, Kenai, Douglas Pollard, Parkin, and Donnie Pollard, Batchelor; eight sisters; six brothers; and 18 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by father, Marcus B. Pollard.

He was of the Baptist faith.
