Rosabelle Bennett Hatcher was born on August 9, 1880 in York County, South Carolina to John Ross and Mary Jane Sturgis Bennett. She came to Texas about 1881 as an toddler with her parents and siblings, and they settled in Houston County where they built a farmhouse on Hall's Bluff Road. Other relatives soon followed.
As the only girl in a family of nine boys, Rosabelle soon became a second mother, and she helped to take care of many of her brothers later on in life. Her tombstone is appropriately inscribed "Mother to All".
Rosabelle died on August 16, 1961 and is buried along with the rest of her family in the Bennett plot in the Glenwood Cemetery in Crockett, Houston County, Texas.
