Records have never shown a middle name for David Jones. It should be noted that David and Mary Ann's first child, Minerva, who married James C. Atherton in Ohio and remained in Ohio, named one of her 3 sons apparently after her father's first name (and perhaps middle name also), "David Francis Atherton". He later changed the order of his names and went by "Frank David Atherton."
David named his first son, "Frank Ogle Jones" in honor of the Ogle family who were close friends of the Jones family in Ohio. This information was passed on to Frank Jones' oldest daughter, Harriette Anne (named after his stepmother). Minerva Jones Atherton, David and Mary Ann's first child, was named in honor of "Minerva Ogle."
Mary Ann died in 1878 and David was remarried to Harriette Anne (Dickinson) Callison who was the widow of Michael A. Callison, on January 7, 1880. Together they raised his seven children. David is buried with his first wife, Mary Ann, at the Middle River Cemetery near Tebbetts in Callaway Co., Missouri.
David's youngest daughter, Ella, married his 2nd wife's youngest brother, Samuel B. Dickinson, Jr., whose grave is located close to David and Mary Ann in Middle River Cemetery. Ella remarried after Samuel's death to Silas Eugene Hornbuckle and is buried in Kansas City, Missouri.
