William Charles Jones was born 16 Aug 1857 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, the son of David Jones and Mary Ann Sabin. He moved to California in 1877 and settled at Coleville, where he mined for eight years. In 1892 he moved to the delta section of Sacramento County and began farming. Somewhere along the way, he changed his name from William Charles to Charles William and hence the initials, CW. No known reason for this swap as he had a younger brother with the name of Charles M. Jones.
C.W. married Emma E. Brower on 19 Oct 1884 in Stockton. Together they raised five children.
C.W. died 26 Oct 1937 at tbe age of 80.
