Buckley's Oldest Resident, 100, Dies, Rites Set Mrs. Margaret Doyle, 100, Buckley's oldest resident, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday in her home, having been bedfast three weeks.
Until that time, she was able to move around the house, passing her time watching television. Mrs. Doyle resided all of her life in the Buckley community.
She was born in Buckley, the daughter of Mr & Mrs. Thomas Shannon. She was married 2/25/1880 in Buckley to Patrick Doyle, who died many years ago.
Surviving are sons, Lee of Venice, Calif., & Wesley of Clifton; daughters, Mrs. Edith Phillips of Buckley, who resided with Mrs. Doyle, and Mrs. Mae Gillespie of Paxton; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren & 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six children, a brother & three sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church, Loda, the Rev. Paul Benson officiating. Burial was in Pine Ridge cemetery, Loda, under direction of Kelly Memorial Funeral Home.

Buckley- Mrs. Margaret Doyle, a lifelong resident of Buckley who is only about one year younger than the community, is being honored at the town's centennial celebration.
The event is scheduled for 6/21,22 & 23 (1956) & the last day's program could be called an early birthday party for her, for Mrs. Doyle will be 99 yrs. old 6/24. She was born here in 1857 & has lived in & near Buckley all her life.
She is the former MISS MARGARET SHANNON, member of a pioneer family. Her parents, Mr & Mrs Thomas Shannon & family came from New York & settled five miles north of here at DelRey in 1853.
