Josephine, the third child of of John & Hettie (Stansell) Thurman, was born on Christmas Day in Cisco.
Josephine, a single school teacher, was living at 2211 Broadway in Lubbock, when she contracted Lobar Pneumonia. She was seen by the doctor on Feb. 2, 1937. He couldn't do anything to help her, & she died one week later at 3 a.m. on Feb. 9. She had lived 38 years, 1 month, & 14 days.
Her brother, Ed F. Thurman, was the informant on her death certificate. Her body was transported to Cisco, & she was buried the following day.
