Wayne was the second child of John & Hettie (Stansell) Thurman.
He lived 5 miles S.E. of Cisco where he farmed. He never married. In March 1968 he learned that he had "Acute Lymphatic Leukemia." He was a patient in Graham Hospital when he died at 11:45 p.m. on June 1, 1968. He was 71 years old.
His brother, J.C. (James Calvin) Thurman, was the informant on his death certificate. He was buried June 4.

CISCO - Wayne D. Thurman, 71, well-known Cisco stock farmer, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a local hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be Tuesday at Rust Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Alverson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
He had lived 10 miles southeast of Cisco 66 years. He was born July 9, 1896, in the Kokomo community in Eastland County and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one sister, Miss Ethel Thurman of Cisco, two brothers, J.C. of Cisco and Floyd of Kaufman.
