Selma S. Mitchell, 54, died in a Portland hospital Saturday, as a result of burns she suffered August 25, when she accidentally ignited her clothing with a lighter while under sedation in a hospital. Survivors include her husband, Jay of Portland; her mother, Mrs. Dora Thornton, White Salmon; three sisters, Mrs. S.R. Aplin and Mrs. W. C. Koch, both of White Salmon, and Ruby Durkee, Portland, three brothers, Charles and Fred Thornton of White Salmon and Hugh of California. Mrs. Mitchell was born Jan. 10, 1912, in White Salmon. She had been a resident of Portland for five years. Services were held Wednesday morning in the Little Chapel of the Chimes. Interment was in the Underwood Cemetery with graveside services there at 2:30 p.m.
