Louis H. Jurs passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital, Rockford, Saturday evening after an illness of three weeks.
He was born in Algonquin September 7, 1887, the son of John and Sophie (Weihe) Jurs. On October 30, 1910, he was untied in marriage at Elgin with Phoebe Miller of that city. they resided in Elgin for several years, in Riley for 23 years, moving to Marengo in 1947, where Mr. Jurs was employed by the Arnold Engineering Co.
Mr. Jurs is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Engle, and Mrs. George Ballard, both of Marengo; one son, Milton, Shabbona; three brothers, John, Elgin; Herman, Marengo; and George of Michigan. Other survivors include one sister, Mrs Walter Burkhart, Riley; twelve grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and a sister, Mrs. William Ackman, Sr.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday by Dale Osborne at the Pinnow Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Rev. David Taylor officiated and pallbearers were Alvie Gustafson, Clyde Coarson, Harry Wolf, Ed Ettner, Herman Wolf and Charles Engle. Interment was in Riley Cemetery.
