Joseph Novak, age 74, of 234 Alexander Ave., Strabane, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 20, 1970 at his home.

Mr. Novak was born Apr. 4, 1896 in Yugoslavia and had lived in Strabane since 1913. He was a former miner.

A veteran of World War I, he belonged to the Veterans of World War I, USA Inc., Barracks 2485 of Canonsburg. He was a member of the SNPJ Lodge 138, Strabane; the Strabane Pensioners Club, of which he served as vice president; Loyal Order of Moose 127 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 816, both of Canonsburg; and the Slovenian Mutual Beneficial Aid Society of Bridgeville. He also served as a director of the Slovenian Saving and Loan, Strabane, for quite a number of years.

His survivors include his wife, Frances Drenik Novak; and three stepchildren, Frank Drenik of West Mifflin, Mary (wife of Paul) Buchanan of Upper St. Clair, and Joseph Drenik of Pittsburg, Calif.
