Janetta Arvetta (Luttrell) Berna
Funeral services for Janetta Arvetta (Luttrell) Berna, 87, of Carnegie were held Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Carnegie.
Janetta was born May 20, 1919 in Leslie, Arkansas to Marshall and Lucinda Luttrell and died Monday, September 11, 2006 at her home in Carnegie after a long illness.
She was the tenth of thirteen children. Janetta grew up in Oklahoma and attended schools in Alden, Pauls Valley and Mangum. She married Alfred Ruben Berna from Alfalfa on July 30, 1941 in Chickasha. They had three children: Kenneth, Phyllis and Ronnie while living in Carnegie. After World War II they lived in Fort Cobb, Alfalfa and Anadarko. In 1948 they moved to Manteca, California and lived there until 1990, when they moved back to Carnegie. Janetta loved to travel, sing, read, cook and was an avid doll collector. She loved her home and caring for her family and always made time for soap operas and "Frazier". She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two sons, Ronnie Berna of Tracy, California and Kenneth Berna and wife, Martha of Shingle Springs, California; one daughter, Phyllis Ann Rawlins of Carnegie; one sister, Clyde Martinez of Missouri; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 2003; her parents; and three brothers and nine sisters.
Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home in Carnegie.
