George W. Moreland
Mr. George Washington Moreland, 73, died at his home in Walthall, Sept. 4.
Mr. Moreland was born in Calhoun County in 1883, the son of the late Will and Eliza Ann Batchelor Moreland.
He was the husband of Mrs. Cora Jane Hardin Moreland. They lived for the past fifteen years in Walthall. He was a farmer until ill health prevented him from working.
Early in life Mr. Moreland was united with the Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Walter Trainor, Walthall and Mrs. Carl Carrithers, Eupora; two sons, Maxey Moreland, Clarksdale and Johnnie Moreland, Eupora; one sister, Mrs. Jessie G. Cooke, Lobart, Texas; Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services were held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. Hix McPhail and Rev. Claud Galloway officiated. Interment was in church cemetery under direction of Pryor Funeral Home of Calhoun City.
