Charleston - James M. Atteberry, 69 years old, of Charleston, died Sunday in St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 23, 1915, at Cleveland, Miss., the son of Walter P. and Hattie Wade Atteberry.
He had resided in Charleston since he was a child. On Oct. 9, 1938, he married the former Deema Boyd.
He was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of Charleston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4294. He was a salesman with Winchester Chevrolet in East Prairie for 16 years. In 1953, he became co-owner of Atteberry Dairy, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife; son, Boyd Atteberry; daughter, Mrs. Charles (Jana) Southern; brother, Phil Atteberry; sisters, Miss Frances Atteberry, Miss Sue Atteberry, Mrs. James (Louise) Moran and Mrs. Thelma Bess; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
