WALTER PHILLIP “PHIL” ATTEBERRY JR., age 93, a resident of Osage Beach, formerly of Charleston, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach.

He was born December 13, 1921 in Blytheville, AR to the late Walter Phillip and Hattie Wade Atteberry, Sr. He moved to Charleston at an early age where he lived until recently moving to Lake of the Ozarks where his daughter resides. Following his graduation from Charleston High School he worked in the family dairy business until enlisting in the Army in 1942. Upon returning from the Army he rejoined the dairy business. In 1953 he formed Atteberry Dairy with this brother James retiring in 1983. He was a member of the VFW Post #4294 in Charleston where he served as manager until 2012 and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

On February 20, 1944 he married Adele Hequembourg who survives of Camdenton.

Surviving are one son Clark Atteberry (Janice Marsh) of St. Louis and one daughter Corinne A. Blair (John) of Camdenton; three grandchildren, Mark Blair of Union, Katie Kitchin (Josh) of Ozark, and Phillip Atteberry (Amber) of Austin, TX; seven great grandchildren, Ellie , Connor, Chase, Addelyn, and Trey Kitchin all of Ozark and Wren Atteberry and Sidney Fridley both of Austin, TX; one sister in law, Deema Atteberry of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother James Atteberry, five sisters, Lurline Durst, Thelma Bess, Frances O. Atteberry, Sue Atteberry and Louise "Til" Moran; also three nieces, Jana Southern, Frances Sue Moran, and Catherine Howard.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston until the Funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Greg Bowers, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate. Blair Moran of Sikeston will serve as Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Boyd Atteberry, Blair Moran, Reginald Young, Mark Blair, Phillip Atteberry, and Josh Kitchin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Leslie Fox, Russell Borders, and Jim Cullison.
