When her and John moved to chunky in 1887 they first lived next to the railroad track on the corner of Mulberry St. and Railroad St. The house was said to be the oldest house in Chunky. It was well over a hundred years old when it was torn down in the 1990s.

Mrs. John W. Thrash passed away at her home in Chunky Saturday, February 13, at the age of 81. Mrs. Thrash was the widow of the late John W. Thrash, who preceded her to the grave four weeks ago. Her illness was of short duration and her death was not expected so soon.
Mrs. Thrash had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood and was very active in church activities when able to attend. She will be sadly missed in her community. the funeral was conducted at the Methodist Church last Sunday at 2 o'clock by the Reverends Broadus and Stevens.
Among the number from out-of-town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Thrash, Mrs. Carrie Thrash and DAUG, Mildred; Ernest Baucum; Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Ritchie and Mr. and Mrs. McClanahan of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brand of Decatur; Messrs. Charles and Joe Craven and DAUGs, Jessie and Ella of Meridian.
