Mrs. W, H. Shane died at her home in Emmett Thursday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday at the Bucknum Chapel, with the Rev. H. G. Luscombe of Fruitland and Rev. Leonard Clark of Emmett conducting the services. The Rebekah Lodge had charge of the services in the Odd Fellows section in Riverside Cemetery. Ella J. Howell was born July 14, 1872 at Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to William Howard Shane at Coon Rapids, Iowa, September 30, 1891, In November 1908, she moved to Emmett with her family and has resided here since that time. For many years she lived on the Bench and took a prominent part in the life of that community and for many years was an active member of the U. A. club. She was also active in the Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Clare W., now of Bremerton, Wash., Fred H. of Kelso, Wash., and Hardie of Emmett. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ed Read, Mrs. Jake Adams and Mrs. Fred Adams, all of Cumberland, Iowa, and one brother, Bert Howell of Coon Rapids, Iowa.
