Mrs. Eva Schmitt
MELROSE, Minn. - Mrs. Eva Schmitt, 79, Avon, MN, died here Friday at the Melrose Hospital. She was born July 20, 1885 and lived in the rural Avon area all her life. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of St. Benedict's Parish.
Her husband, Peter, preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Leonard, and a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Leona) Kraemer, Avon.
Mrs. Schmitt also raised the following children: William and Melvin Koska, St. Cloud; Victor Koska, Cold Spring; and Mrs. Sylvester (Rosemary) Becker, St. Cloud.
Also, surviving are eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Minnie Maehren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. from St. Benedict's Church, Avon, with burial in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Thielman Funeral Home, Avon, after 7:30 p.m. today.
The Parish Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 8:00 p.m. and the Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
Eva was born July 20, 1885 in Avon, Minnesota to parents Herman Maehren and Catherine Mayer. Her husband Peter Schmitt had died. She was a resident of Avon. She died May 7, 1965 at Melrose Hospital at Melrose, Minnesota and was buried at the St. Benedict Cemetery in Avon. Information was supplied by Leona Kramer of Avon.
