Daniel O. Cyphert passed away at his residence in the Long Lake district December 18, 1922 at 2:40 pm.

Deceased was born in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, August 24, 1845. From Pennsylvania he came to Del Norte County, California, where he prospected from 1877 to 1881, coming to Washington and living in Snohomish County until 1884, when he came to Kitsap County where he has lived since.

He was a good and kind neighbor and enjoed the friendship of all. He was active in Grange work and donated the land where the Eureka Grange Hall now stands.

He leaves one brother in Penn. and two nieces and two nephews in this state. Miss Stella Cyphert of Colby, Mrs. Ida Hawkins of Kennewick, Eugene Cyphert and Clarence Cyphert of Marysville, and a cousin Howard Cyphert of Shelton. He was one of the first pioneers of the state of Washington, having lived here for 41 years, and he has been a resident of Kitsap county for the past 38 years.
