After the Chronicles of the Bement Family in America were published he attained the rank of Major General, United States Army, was the son of Samuel Davis Sturgis, he was born in 1861 and graduated from West Point in 1884. He died in 1933 and is buried among other family members in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery.
