Thelma Alber, age 101, of Edina, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.

She was born March 21, 1908, southeast of Edina, Missouri the daughter of Elmer Guy and Ella Mae Green Luke.

On August 19, 1929, at St. Joseph Church in Edina, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Louis A. Alber and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and son-in-law Dorothy Moore and husband Ernest, one brother, Charles Robert Luke, one sister Naomi Baker and brother-in-law Lorraine Baker, a daughter-in-law Leona Alber, a grandson Kent Alber and twin great granddaughters Erin and Erica Alber.

Surviving are two sons, Charles L. Alber and wife Peggy of Kahoka, Missouri, and George Leon Alber of Jefferson City, Missouri, twelve grand children, Louis Michael Alber, Christine Alber Finch, Leanne Alber Pecher, Father Tom Alber, Otto Alber, Joe Alber, Carla Lansing, Marchelle Moore, Karen Moore, Kevin Moore, Terry Moore and Charlene Moore Blaha, eleven great grandchildren, one sister Betty Jo Robinson of Jefferson City, Missouri, sister-in-law June Shepard of Edina, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Thelma graduated from Edina High School in 1927 and attended the Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught rural school at the Ireland School two years and Oklahoma School one year both in Knox County. She was a member of the Clancy Community Club and St. Ann's Sodality of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.
Louis and Thelma lived on the Alber home place southeast of Edina for over fifty years before moving to their home in Edina, Missouri.

She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking bread and lots of good home cooking.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri. Father Joseph Hoi and Father Tom Alber will officiate the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Music will be provided by Nancy Reardon, organist, and Brent Karhoff, soloist. Casket bearers will be Bob Killday, Bill Killday, Kevin Moore, Otto Alber, Louis Alber and Michael Alber.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2009, with a prayer service being held at 7:30 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
