John Calvin Webb was born probably in Hempstead Co, Arkansas. He was the son of Christopher Columbus Webb and Harriet Malinda Taylor. He married first to Margaret Tennessee Stone (sometimes called Maggie, sometimes called Tennie) on May 7, 1884 in Hempstead Co, Arkansas. They had 8 children. Following her death, he married Meda 'Meady' White about 1904 in Hempstead Co, Arkansas. They had at least 6 children.

John Calvin Webb, 89, Smithville, died at 2:45 a. m. Friday at a Mena hospital.
Born at Nashville, Ark., January 8, 1862, he had resided in McCurtain county 20 years, the last 15 at Smithville. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist church.
He is survived by eight sons, Jessie and Carl Webb, both of Sulphur Springs, Tex.; George Webb, Texarkana; C. C. Webb, Dallas; Calvin, Dumas, Tex.; Clarence Webb, Ft. Worth, and Marvin Webb, Smithville; four daughters, Mrs. L. R. Lewis, DeQueen; Mrs. W.R.Bennett and Mrs. W. W. Slaughter, both of Fort Worth, and Mrs. Melvin Phillips, Smithville; three brothers, Jimmie and Ned Webb, both of Nashville, Ark., and Charley Webb, California; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Harris, Arkansas; Mrs. Tudie Hyte, Dumas, N. M.; Mrs. Willie Bell Carey, Stephenville, Tex., and Mrs. Becky Harris, Ozan, Ark.; 37 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services have been set for 2 p. m. Sunday at the Smithville Baptist church. Arrangements and burial in Smithville cemetery are under direction of Wilson funeral home.
