∼Ida Grove Pioneer, 30 January 1947 J. A. Murphy, 70, Dies Sunday Prominent In Business and in Civic Affairs
Joseph A. Murphy, 70, prominent business man and attorney here, died at the Ida Grove hospital Sunday, January 26 after an extended illness. He had resided in Ida Grove since 1895 and served as county recorder 12 years. For many years he has conducted an abstract and loan business in this city. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Kotz; three sons, Joseph Emmett, Donald and William and six grandchildren. Mrs. Murphy preceded him in death May 24, 1945. He also leaves four brothers and one sister, William, Robert, Thomas, Ray and Mrs. John M. Shea. Funeral services will he held the Friday at Sacred Heart church. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery.
