Ms. Gwendolyn Jean Smith Arnold, 45, gracefully passed away at 7:30 a.m., on Dec. 10, 2008, at her home in Long Beach, MS., after a short battle with Esophageal Cancer. She was born Dec. 20, 1962 in Gulfport, MS to Jack and June Smith. Gwen was a resident of Benson, AZ for several years. She graduated from Benson Union High School in 1980 and attended one year at Cochise College. She relocated to MS in 1981 to be closer to her elder sisters.
Gwen worked many years for Morrison's Cafeteria in Edgewater Mall, and later at the Beau Rivage Casino and Boomtown Casino all in Biloxi, MS until Hurricane Katrina.
She was preceded in death by Her father, Jack C. Smith of Gulfport, MS and her sister Kyzmi Rose Allen of Long Beach, MS.; Maternal Grandparents William and Hilda Carpenter of New Orleans, LA; and Paternal Grandparents Arthur and Elizabeth Smith of Indianapolis, IN
Her ashes will be buried with her sister in Allen Cemetery, Long Beach, Miss.
Riemann Funeral Home of Long Beach, Miss. is handling arrangements.
