Ms. June C. Jarred, 74, of Long Beach, Miss., passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 11, 2013 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1938 in New Orleans, La., to William and Hilda Carpenter.
After high school, June married Jack C. Smith, of IN, and mothered five daughters. She later became a resident of Benson, Ariz., where she earned her CNA, was employed at Quiburi Samaritan Center, and later as a Home-Health Care Assistant.
June returned to Mississippi, in 2010, to be closer to her growing family. She loved her family, and many pets; but, she loved and missed Benson and always considered it home. She loved the mountains, long walks in the desert, gardening, and visits with good friends. It was her wish to be laid to rest here, in peace and love. She is eternally home again. Forever, she will be loved and missed by many.
June is preceded in death by her parents, William and Hilda Carpenter; daughters, Kyzmi (Kay) Allen and Gwendolyn Smith Arnold.
June is survived by Theodore Jarred, of Benson, Ariz.; daughters, Belinda Ruiz Ryle, of Long Beach, Miss.; Cynthia (Paul) McArdle of Lake Alfred, Fla.; Charlotte Smith Messler of Jackson, Miss.; siblings, Bill Carpenter and Lorraine Lester of Louisiana; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and faithful canine companion, Lucy.
Catholic burial services will be held at Cochise Gardens of Rest on Sept. 17, 2013, at 10 a.m."
