Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church for Herbert McChesney, formerly of Olney who died in Floydada, Texas where he made his local home. He had been in ill health for two years. Rev. F.P. Culver, pastor of the Floydada First Methodist church and officiated.
Mr. McChesney was a member of the Methodist church in Floydada where he had made his home for the past seven years. He was a local preacher from the Plainview District.
At the age of six years, he moved with his parents to Armoret, Missouri where he made his home.
Later in his life, he came to Olney to make his home where he met and married Miss Mary Waggoner on 10 February 1926. There were three children born to this union: Marjorie, Herbert Glenn, Jr., and Joan.
At an early age, Mr. McChesney gave his heart to God and he united with the Presbyterian church. After his marriage, he joined the Methodist church and in the fall of 1935, he was licensed to preach. In January 1935, he was made pastor of the Wake Community church where he served until he became ill.
Survivors: wive; three chldren; five sisters - Mrs. Gertrude Elkins and Mrs. Iva Towers of Marion, IA, Mrs. June Cary of Kansas City, MO; Mrs. Charles Ellis of Abilene, KS; Mrs. Mary Mitchell of Armoret, MO; five brothers - Reel and Ira of Oklahoma City, Tom of MO, Kenneth of CA and Harry of Cambridge, KS.
His parents and two sisters preceded him in death several years ago.
