Bates County Democrat, Butler, Missouri, Thursday, February 2, 1906 = "January 25, 1906, Miss Ella Louella McChesney, daughter of Mr. A.J. and Mrs. Olive A. McChesney, died at the residence of her parents, near Amoret. Her illness was brief but severe. The disease was inflammation of bowels. Miss McChesney was born in Lawrence county, Pennsylvania, May 4, 1885 and was therefore in her 2lst year at the time of her death. With her parents in the years of her childhood, she moved to Andrew, Jackson county, Iowa, and in later years to Amoret, MO. She was one of thirteen children of Mr. and Mrs. McChesney and was the first one to be called away by death. At the early age of fourteen years, she made a confession of her faith in Jesus as a Savior and identified herself with the U.P. Church, in Andrew, Iowa, and on coming to Amoret had her membership transferred, by certificate, to the U.P. Church of Amoret of which she was a member at the time of her death, which was unexpected to all her many friends. During her illness, while all others expected her recovery, she alone had the thought that her illness was unto death, and expressed the same to other members of the family, and at the same time expressed her willingness that it should be so and her readiness to depart. The deceased deservedly, had many friends, who mourn her departure, occurring just when she had reached the full maturity of young womanhood. "Be ye also ready, for the Son of Man cometh in such an hour as ye think not" is the voice from her death chamber to her young friends and to all. On Friday, January 26, at 3 p.m. funeral services were conducted in the Amoret U.P. Church, by the Pastor Rev. SA.N. Hood. Notwithstanding the bad condition of the roads, the church was filled to its entire capacity, showing esteem for the dead and family of which she was a member beloved. Interment was made in the Richland cemetery."
