Colonel Sawyer's Funeral Srvices
Held at Brownsville
BROWNSVILLE, Or. Nov 28--(Special)--Colonel Sawyer, who was away from home on a visit, died suddenly in Bend, Or. last Monday. Funeral services were held yesterday from the Methodist church, with interment in Masonic cemetey.
At the time of his death Mr. Sawyer was visiting his son, William Sawyer, at Bend. The three children surviving are William, Robert and Myrlte Sawyer, all of whom were reared in Brownsville.
Mr. Sawyer was a veteran of the Civil war, having taken part in many campaigns. He entered the service in Tennessee with the rank of captain and finally was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. He has been known here familiarly as Colonel Sawyer. Colonel Sawyer had lived in this city for about 15 years. He was 76 years old at the time of his death.
