Company C, 9th Tennessee Cavalry

John G. Sawyers was a brother of Col. William Sawyers, 3rd TN Infantry.
John G. enlisted as a private in the 3rd Tennessee Infantry, at Flat Lick, KY, 10FEB1862. He was promoted to Sergeant. In August 1863 was commissioned a 1st Lt of Company G, 9th Tennessee Cavalry.
In the fall of 1865 he returned home for a short visit and one evening he was ambushed and killed by bushwhackers
