John Franklin Minzes, 79, was born in Hayden, MO April 4, 1907, the son of Frank and Mary Ellen Bull Minzes, and died in the Rolla Hospital on Sept 14, 1986. He was united in marriage to Olave Wilson on April 4, 1931 and unto this union three sons and two daughters were born. His survivors include: his wife Olave of the home; three sons, Lewis of Titusville, Florida, Bob of Florrisant and Paul of Crestwood; two daughters, Marcella White of Ballwin, and Marilyn Martchink of Berkley; one sister, MARTHA BLACKWELL of Dixon, one brother Benny Minzes of Granite City, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henry and Willie, three sisters, Gertie Nelson, America Smith and Nellie Robertson; one daughter in law, Betty Minzes; and one grandson, John W. White. He worked in the steel mills for 40 years; retiring from General Steel in St Louis in 1969, and moving to Hayden near Vienna. He loved to fish and the outdoors. Funeral Services were held in the Long Brothers Funeral Home in Vienna Tuesday, Sept 16, 1986 at 11 a.m. with Roger Crossgrove officiating. Graveside services were held in the St John United Church of Christ Cemetery in Manchester on Wednesday; Sept 17, 1986 at 11 a.m. Serving as his pallbearers were his grandsons, Michael Minzes, Randy White, Mark Minzes, John Minzes, Danny Minzes and Chris Culp.
