The Dixon Pilot, Thursday, August 11, 1988:
Clarence Orville Blackwell of Jefferson City, was born on May 14, 1916, at Hayden, in Maries County a son of Mark and Martha Overy Minzes Blackwell and departed this life at 10:04 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 1988 in the Charles E. Still Hospital, Jefferson City, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Blackwell had attained the age of 72 years, 2 months and 22 days. Mr. Blackwell was united in marriage to the former Miss Myrtle Lee Copeland and to this union five children were born. Mr. Blackwell was preceded in death by his father, on January 30, 1959, and one infant brother. Mr. Blackwell was employed as a mechanic at Central Missouri Motors in Jefferson City for 20 years, before failing health forced his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Blackwell include: his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Blackwell, of the home in Jefferson City, two sons, Lawrence Blackwell, Olean, and Lonnie Blackwell, Jefferson City, three daughters, Miss Velma Blackwell, Mrs. Betty Jackson and Miss Catherine Blackwell, all of Jefferson City; his mother, Mrs. Martha Blackwell, Dixon; one brother, Russell Blackwell of Lebanon; two sisters, Mrs. Nola Robertson of Vienna and Mrs. Geraldine Doyel of Marshfield; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Fond and precious memories of Mr. Blackwell will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Blackwell at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 1988 in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Howard Opperman, Pastor of Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna, officiating. Interment was in the Kenner Cemetery, Dixon. Active pallbearers for Mr. Blackwell were Steven Blackwell, Michael Blackwell, James Blackwell, Robert Jackson, Darrell Blackwell and Douglas Blackwell. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Robertson, Walter Hanrahan, Jack Foster, Cecil Harris and Bernard Schneider.
