Born ca. 1808, son of Joseph and Dinah McKinney. "Left his home at Shippensburg, Penna., when quite young, and went to Shepherdstown, W. Va."

Married Catharine Baker, February 13, 1832 (licensed on Feb. 8), Washington Co., Md. Minister was Samuel K. Hoshour (Lutheran). At the time, Hoshour was the minister for St. John's Lutheran Church, in Hagerstown.

Catharine died prior to 1850.

Robert is in the 1850 census for Washington County, Maryland, living in the home of David C. Miller, and listed as pollen manufacturer (bee keeper?). He married 2) Mary Jane Burke, Berkeley County, Virginia, April 27, 1854. She was a widow, and died prior to 1860. 1860 census, listed as confectioner. Last resided in 1870 in Hedgesville, Berkeley County, West Virginia. Believed to have died in May 1876, perhaps in Shepherdstown, WV.
