Following the death of her mother, she was sent, for an unclear amount of time, to live with her mother's sister (Harriet Baker Bowers), and her husband and children. As of 1850, the Bowers family was listed as living in District #9, Berkeley County, (West) Virginia. Listed in that census were the father, John (born ca. 1813), mother, Harriet (born ca. 1813, daughter of John and Catharine Baker), son (Joseph) Dorsey, daughter Catharine (also known as Katharine M.), Catharine & Jane McKinney (nieces to Harriet Baker).
Appears to have relocated (perhaps moving in with her father) by the mid 1850s, to Pleasant Township, Washington Co., Maryland. This is where she was attributed to as a resident when she married Cyrus S. Moore on November 29, 1855.
After death of Cyrus, Catherine returned to live in Martinsburg at the 210 (or 229?) West Martin Street address (where she was listed, as of 1915). Around 1900, she was interviewed by Belle McKinney Hays Swope, for her book History of the Families McKinney-Brady-Quigley (see pp. 67-69). Whether transcribed incorrectly or not, there are errors, regarding Cyrus' middle initial and the names of Catherine's and Cyrus' children.

"Death of Mrs. C.S. Moore
Mrs. Catherine A. Moore, widow of C.S. Moore, died in Shenandoah, this county, at 11 p.m., on Saturday, aged 82 years and 14 days. Her health had been feeble for several years and she was very ill for six weeks preceeding her death. Mrs. Moore was a Miss McKinney of West Virginia, having been born at Shepherdstown. She is the last survivor of her family. During her married life she resided in Martinsburg and for a number of years afterwards and came to Shenandoah a year or two ago to reside with her son, J.H. Moore. The following children survive her: J. Howard Moore, of Shenandoah, VA., C.C. Moore of Hatboro, Pa., and Mrs. C.T. Quintard, of New York City. She also leaves nine grand children and three great grand children. After brief services at her late home by Rev. M.A. Ashby (Martin Alexander "Sandy" Ashby was a Lutheran minister) her remains were taken to Martinsburg and buried in Green Hill Cemetery at that place. All of her children were at the funeral. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Episcopal church and greatly esteemed by all who knew her.
