Uncle Willie never married. He worked at Wallace and Tierney in Belleville area. He was in the service for a short period of time during WWII. The following taken from his papers where he served only 2 months due to his age: WWII inducted Oct 7 1942 at Newark, NJ # 32562417 PVT. Headquarters Detachment. DEML, Station Complement. completed 3 months 11 days. with Honorable Discharge Book 5 page 288 served at Camp Crowder, MO. discharged by reason of per 3d Ind Hq 2d Army Memphis Tenn Jan 24/43 adn Sec II WD Cir 397 dtd Dec 7/42: Key Man in War Industry. William H. Kallenberg was born in Kearny in the state of NJ.Occupation was a Clerk he had blue eyes, brown-gray hair, ruddy complection and was 5' 73/4 in in height.WW11 Army Enlistment Records : Oct 7 1942 Newark NJ Single with dependents, 41 years old, Height 68" weight 107 lbs, Education, Grammer School. Uncle Willie was very sensitive and quiet. He was a hard worker, hardly missing a day. He liked to listen to his radio shows in his room, Hopalong Cassidy, Green Hornet, Fibber Magee and Molly, and others. He would bring home Baby Ruth and Clark candy bars for Ralph and me. When I graduated high school and went to live with Grandma and him he refused to take any board and although I insisted giving him money he would buy things for me with the money. He loved going to the race track in Belmar. He won dishes and silverware for me. He liked the trotters. Uncle Willie died,1965 February at West Hudson Hospital in Kearny.
