Eleanor (Guthrie) Gilcrest was the daughter of Samuel Guthrie and ? Shaw. She was born Dec.27, 1817 in New Athens, Harrison Co., Ohio. She married Thomas Coscory Gilcrest on May 27, 1835 in New Athens. They had 10 children. According to notes by R. R. Hollenback of Colorado, in 1856 they moved from Marysville, Ohio to Princeton, Illinois by covered wagon. They stayed there for 4 years but returned to Ohio because of Eleanor's failing health. She died Jan.24, 1862 in Millcreek Township, Union Co. The family later moved back to Illinois. A wonderful woman sent me Eleanor's obituary from the Marysville Tribune, dated Jan.29, 1862. It said she had been sick for a couple of years. She had been a member of the Disciples Church. (thank you Karen : )
