Mrs. Frances Van Horn
Ninety years old, widow of the late Samuel R Van Horn, Civil War veteran, died yesterday morning (Jan 4, 1936) at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. James Spicer, 1855 Sixth Avenue, following a lingering illness. She was one of the earliest settlers of Huntington, having come to Cabell county from Lawrence county when very young. She was the oldest member of the Seventh Avenue Methodist Church, and the earlier years of her life were spent doing church work. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, C Herbert Van Horn of Cleveland; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Seventh Avenue Methodist Church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. J C Buckley officiating. Active pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Burial will be in the family plot in Spring Hill cemetery.

Daughter of Henry A Baker and Rebecca Arnot Robinson, born Mar 14,1846 in Gallia Co, Ohio. Frances Baker was married first to David Eakman in 1861 who died in 1862 after being held as POW in the Civil War. A daughter, Sarah Eakman was born from this union in 1862 and she died in 1863. She married second to Samuel Robert Vanhorn on Mar 31 1864 in Gallia Co OH. To this union were born seven known children.
