Raney Curtis (pronounced Rain-E) married William Noonan Gober on May 12, 1928 in Iuka, Tishomingo County, Mississippi. The ceremony was performed by Noonan's uncle, the Rev. George Newton Gober, in the parlor of his residence, and was witnessed by Rev. Gober's wife Rachel Leora Floyd Gober, sister of Noonan's mother Mary Emmaline "Amy" Floyd Gober.

Noonan died of a heart attack at their residence at 2631 N. Burling Street in Chicago in 1961. He was interred at Center Hill Cemetery, Counce, Tennessee.

On June 22, 1963, Raney married Harmon Oren "Mac" McAnally in Cicero, Cook County, Illinois. After Mac retired from his position in Elk Grove Village and Raney retired from Underwriter's in Chicago, they moved to Counce, Hardin County, Tennessee close to Raney's mother Josie Albinah Smith Curtis about 4 miles west of Pickwick Dam. Raney had purchased in 1961 two homes on the same road on which she had been born in 1913 (when it was known as Old Hamburg Road). She died at home in 1992 on the same road on which she was born 79 years earlier. At some point Old Hamburg Road had been changed to Damon Road.

Raney and Mac added onto one of the houses, always known afterwards as the Big House, for themselves; and, the other house next door, always known as the Little House, was used for family. Mac and Raney also brought property on Hwy 57 near Counce and opened McAnally's Cafe which they operated for many years before changing it into a dwelling place for rental property. Raney and Mac also owned land and numerous rental properties around Counce.
