John Morton Vine, 86, Monarch, died Saturday at the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov., 9 1891, at Dayton. He married Lillian Irene Eslick, Aug 14, 1915 in Newcastle and they came to Sheridan County in 1915 from Cambria.
He operated a sawmill at Camp Canyon in Cambria and later was a flume rider in Tongue River Canyon. Later he was employed by the Sheridan-Wyo Coal Company as a mechanic and electrician. He planted the orginial trees at the Sheridan County courthouse. He was a member of the Miners Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife who died in 1965, a daughter, two sons, three half sisters and two half brothers.
Survivors include six sons; Harry, Robert, James and Ernest Vine, all of Sheridan; John Vine, Hooper, Utah; and Peter Vine, Ranchester; two daughters, Maye Badgett, Sheridan, and Minnie Ethel Thomnpson, Willow Wood, Ohio; two sisters, Dolly Eigenheer, and Minnie Ann McIntosh, both of SheridaN; 48 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Funeral Homne with the Rev. Ray Clark officiating. interment will be in heridan Cemetery.
